“Prayer is not monologue, but dialogue; God’s voice is its most essential part. Listening to God’s voice is the secret of the assurance that He will listen to mine.”
FROM THE DESK OF: the Director of Communications
This week concludes Ramadan - a month long season of Muslim prayer and fasting. Because of the intensity of the fast and the summer heat, much of what our reps would like to schedule has been put on hold. Its not wise to schedule tournaments and trainings when people are not eating and drinking all day. Furthermore, we want to honor the culture and contextualize our events appropriately but because the majority of our sports experts are high school and college coaches who are only available during the summers, it has been difficult to match needs with availability during this time.
Please pray for our sports reps who must endure this dry season (physically and spiritually) and also pray for our Muslim friends - that Jesus would draw them to himself despite what the predominate culture preaches about God.
For the Win[dow],
Bubby Bryan, DOC
VERSE OF THE WEEK: Deuteronomy 31:8
"It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
COUNTRY OF THE WEEK: Namibia
South Africa occupied the German colony of South-West Africa during World War I and administered it as a mandate until after World War II, when it annexed the territory. In 1966, the Marxist South-West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) guerrilla group launched a war of independence for the area that became Namibia, but it was not until 1988 that South Africa agreed to end its administration in accordance with a UN peace plan for the entire region. Namibia has been governed by SWAPO since the country won independence in 1990, though the party has dropped much of its Marxist ideology. Prime Minister Hage GEINGOB was elected president in November 2014 in a landslide victory, replacing Hifikepunye POHAMBA who stepped down after serving two terms. SWAPO retained its parliamentary super majority in the November 2014 elections and established a system of gender parity in parliamentary positions. (CIA World Factbook)
